Seattle Sounders v San Jose Earthquakes: Hosts chasing post-season berth at Lumen Field

Seattle Sounders will hope to make the most of their home advantage when they host San Jose Earthquakes, as Brian Schmetzer s side aim to further their MLS playoffs bid.

The Sounders are fifth in the Western Conference standings after their 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City last time out.

Schmetzer s men are nine points adrift of West leaders LA Galaxy heading into this clash at Lumen Field, where the Sounders hope to improve further in their post-season chase.

[We have] to keep the momentum going, but one game at a time, said centre-back Jackson Ragen. Keep winning, and then keep that going in the playoffs.

This is the home stretch, and every game is huge, because it s going to come down to our position in the playoffs.

Allardyce pleased with 2014 points haul

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has hailed his side s 2014 points haul and called for more of the same in the new year.

Despite back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal in their last two matches of the year, the Upton Park outfit have made a promising start to the 2014-15 season, currently sitting sixth in the Premier League.

West Ham end 2014 with 56 points for the calendar year and Allardyce wants to see the club register a similar total at the end of the season.

Fifty-six points in one year is a pretty good record and that would probably finish us in the top eight at least, he said.

We just need to carry that on and make sure we get 56 this season, or more, because if we can do it one year, let s try and do it in one season and see where it gets …

FIFA finds international agents fees reached 888.1m dollar all-time high in 2023

Football agents’ fees linked to international transfers in the men’s game reached an all-time high in 2023, according to new data published by FIFA.

Agents earned 888.1million US dollars (£701.6m) from such deals, the sport’s global governing body found.

The figure represents a 42.5 per cent increase on last year and is up by more than one third on the previous record set in 2019, FIFA said.

English clubs were the single biggest contributors to this year’s record total, spending 280m US dollars (£221.2m) on agents’ service fees, with Saudi Arabian clubs the second-highest spenders as buyers on 86m US dollars (£68m).

FIFA’s report excludes domestic transfer deals such as those involving Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, so the tru…

Week 17 NFL Parlay Picks: Bengals Can't Contain Chiefs

As Week 17 is upon us, we look at a week with important playoff implications and potentially some matchups that could pose as playoff previews as the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals do battle and the red-hot Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals meet as we see two teams trending in opposite directions.

Here’s a look at my favorite spreads, player props, and totals I’ll be targeting in Week 17.

49ers vs Seahawks TNF Prop Bets: Wealth of Options in San Francisco's Offense

There are a lot of uncertainties with the Thursday night game between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, but with Deebo Samuel out, there are some targets to go around and I don’t think the books have corrected the numbers enough when comparing them to the SF pass-catchers Week 12 totals.

Here are my NFL player prop picks for Thursday Night Football’s battle between the 49ers vs. Seahawks. Don’t forget to also check out Jason Logan’s 49ers vs. Seahawks TNF picks and predictions as well as Jared Hochman’s three favorite Christian McCaffrey TNF spotlight props!

Patriots vs Broncos SNF Prop Bets: Elliott Presents Dual Threat

The Denver Broncos hope to keep their postseason hopes alive when they host the New England Patriots as NFL odds favorites at Mile High Stadium for Sunday Night Football.

The SNF odds favor the Broncos by -6.5 points, and the 34.5-point total suggests a knock-down, drag-out, low-scoring affair between the two longtime postseason rivals.

Please join me as I share my top three NFL picks for Patriots vs Broncos player props on Sunday, December 24.

Week 1 NFL Parlay Picks: Fade Young, Panthers Offense

Week 1 is often a time to think optimistically, but I can’t help but feel pretty darn pessimistic about the Bryce Young era in Carolina. The Panthers may have set themselves years backwards, and another potentially disastrous campaign begins with a trip to the rowdy Caesars Superdome and a date with the New Orleans Saints.

Find out why I think the Saints will prevail in a low-scoring opener while keeping Young from breaking out, and much, much more in my free NFL picks.

Thomas Tuchel frustrated that Chelsea’s ‘big mistakes lead to easy goals’

Thomas Tuchel criticised his defence after Chelsea’s title prospects suffered another blow when they fell to a sloppy 3-2 defeat at West Ham. Chelsea, who have won two of their past five league games, were unusually slack at the back at the London Stadium. Édouard Mendy was at fault for two of West Ham’s goals – the goalkeeper gave away a foolish penalty for the first and misjudged Arthur Masuaku’s mishit cross for the winner – and Tuchel said his team must stop making mistakes.

“The performance is enough to win the game,” Chelsea’s manager said. “But what we clearly see is that we give easy goals away. This is really unusual. We make big mistakes that lead to big chances, that lead to easy goals. We do this now in three m…

‘Disappointed’ England squad pause Women’s World Cup bonus talks with FA

The Lionesses have paused discussions with the Football Association over performance-related bonuses until after the Women’s World Cup but have said in a statement they are disappointed a resolution has not been found.

The England squad have been pushing to receive bonuses, arguing the announcement that players will receive individual fees set by Fifa for the first time is no reason for them not to be paid by the FA. Those fees start at $30,000 (£24,000) for players who go out in the group stage and rise to $270,000 for the winners.
